LESLIE SILVA

Equipe Faisca Captain, Dancer, and NCBAP Assistant

Leslie has been a dancer with the Charlotte Cultural Collective (or C3) for three years and NCBAP for two years. She says samba challenges her to step outside of her comfort zone, pushing her to be a better version of herself. In addition to dancing, she assists NCBAP with valuable projects including mixing music, merchandise creation, and assisting the directors. Additionally, Leslie loves to choreograph and help with dances whenever possible. Leslie is so proud of herself and the progress she's made - she's grateful to have the opportunity to be part of this team.

LIANE SHE

Dancer

Originally from Paris, France, Liane's mixed heritage (Greek and Chinese, with a Latino heart) inspires her dancing. Dance has always been part of her life as she danced ballet and modern styles as a child. Her education in Afro-Latino dances such as salsa, bachata, merengue, and samba began in 2010, and she started dancing Samba no Pe in 2021 and performing for the first time in 2022. She says dancing is a key part of her mental health care by helping her staying physically present, grounded, and expressive. When she's not dancing, Liane is a Spanish and French professor and enjoys cooking, traveling, learning languages, and photography.

ALEX WASHBURN

Dancer

Alex has been training samba since 2022 and A Night in Rio in 2023 was her first performance! Samba and Capoeira are important to Alex because of their roots in liberation and she's honored to be part of this community and art form. She's currently in graduate school to become a therapist and will be graduating in May 2023.

LEE SUTTON-RAMSPECK

Lee is a dance enthusiast! From bachata to swing to salsa to blues fusion, Lee finds inner peace from dance. Samba holds a special place in her heart because of the rich history and the beautiful community found the in NC Brazilian Arts Project. When Lee isn’t dancing, she is traveling, spending time with loved ones, or curling up with a good book.
