Carolyn Pratt

Musician and Capoeirista

Born and raised in Haïti, Carolyn grew up surrounded by the sound of different types of music from kompa, zouk to rara, salsa to french ballads. Her father introduced her to the organ as a child, then she picked up the violin in her teenage years; but her passion for sounds resonated with the rada and petwo tanbou, native percussions to her home country. She never had the chance to learn percussion back home so when the occasion presented itself with NCBAP, she did not hesitate and has been playing with the band ever since. Aside from making music with them, Carolyn enjoys learning about Afro-Brazilian arts, practicing capoeira and samba as she strives to get better at both arts  everyday.
