Edgar Marcano

Co-Musical Director and Percussionist

Originally from Venezuela, Edgar began studying regional percussion through the Popular Culture Workshops of the Fundación Bigott (Caracas) at the age of 10. At 13, he began playing modern drums with professor José Antonio Mato, before dedicating himself to perform in several rock and fusion bands from the age of 15 to the present. Graphic designer, videographer and audiovisual producer by profession, Edgar arrived in Charlotte, NC in 2017 and joined NCBAP in mid-2019, where he has expanded his knowledge and technique by studying fundamentals of Afro-Brazilian percussion and working with director Juan Pablo Blanco on the continuous development of the percussion ensemble dedicated to performing live music for samba and capoeira performances.
