Our Costumes

Many people associate Brazilian Samba with fancy costumes including revealing bikinis, feathers, intricate stoning and elaborate head-pieces and wings. People find these costumes to be alluring, exotic and the perfect addition to their event. While we also agree that these costumes are incredible, we wear them with a sense of solemn duty as well as joy. These costumes represent the intersection of many complex historical and cultural realities that are defined by the oppression of African Brazilians due to the brutality of the slave trade and coloniztion. These costumes are one of many symbols of resistance against oppression and the ability to express freedom through the confines of white supremicst beauty/cultural standards and exploitation. 

We steadfastly train our samba technique and educate ourselves on African-Brazilian history so as to earn the privilege of wearing these precious costumes. Bearing all of this in mind we would love our dear clients to know that we are more than thrilled to add some extra sparkle to your event so long as we participate within the context of authentically sharing the joy that is Samba. 

We are overjoyed that you consider us to be a part of your event, however, if you are hoping for more something along the lines of a “show girl or hostess/presenter, that is not the type of service we provide.  

As a company we are also proud to support Brazilian costume designers and do our best to buy our costuming exclusively from them.
